Description

Adenanthos sericea (Woolly Bush). This shub has very soft, hairy, divided leaves with a silver-green colour. The flowers are small and red and are hidden by the foliage at the end of the branch. The fruits are oval shaped, hard, dry and single-seeded. The species name 'sericeus' means 'silky' in Latin and refers to the soft foliage.

Interest and use

Grown for its foliage. Used in the cut-flower industry, as the cut foliage keeps fresh in a vase for up to 30 days. Young plants are potted up and used as Christmas trees.
