Adenium genus (Desert rose). These are perennial succulents with fleshy swollen trunks. They will produce funnel-shaped flowers from midwinter to early spring.

Grown for their habit and brightly coloured flowers. The sap of some species is used as an arrow poison in large game hunting in Africa. Grown mainly as house plants in temperate zones, and also used for bonzai.
Plants are very prone to rotting. Under glass, grow in loam based potting compost. They are frost tender, min 15C and will need sun or partial shade and well drained soil. They need plenty of water in summer but very little in winter.
You can propagate by seed in the spring or summer. Named cultivars are propagated by grafting.
