Description

Adenium obesum (Desert obesum). This species has whorls of lance-shaped-oval glossy leaves. The flowers are trumpet-shaped, with five petals which have dark pink-red edges and paler centres. This plant has an unusual bottle shaped caudex.

Cultivation

Plants are very prone to rotting. Under glass, grow in loam based potting compost. They are frost tender, min 15C and will need sun or partial shade and well drained soil. They need plenty of water in summer but very little in winter.

Propagation

You can propagate by seed in the spring or summer. Named cultivars are propagated by grafting.
