Description

Adenocarpus genus (Codeso). These are deciduous or semi-evergreen shrubs in the legume family. The leaves are dark green and small with 3 leaflets, and the flowers produced are small yellow terminal spikes.

S.W Europe, Mediterranean, Canary Islands.

Interest and use

Profuse, broom-like, yellow flowers in spring or early summer.

Cultivation

They are frost to half-hardy and will require full sun and well drained soil. They will grow well against a south or west facing wall.

Propagation

Sow seeds in containers in a cold frame in autumn.
