Description

Chrysanthemum genus. This genus is made up of annuals and perennials some of which are evergreen sub-shrubs. They can be grown indoors or outdoors and are grown for their flowers. The leaves are usually deeply lobed, and oval to lance-shaped.

Interest and use

Grown for their flowers. Used for borders. Suitable for coastal conditions.

Cultivation

You will need to provide a sunny site with reasonably fertile, well drained soil. Thin out but do not transplant.

Propagation

Propagate annuals by basal cuttings or by seed sown where they are to flower, in spring. Propagate hardy perennials by division in autumn, after flowering or in early spring.
