Description

Cirsium vulgare (Spear thistle). A tall biennial herb native to Britain. Bears strongly spiny, spear-shaped, pinnate lobed, wavy leaves. Reddish purple, disc-shaped flowers appear in mid summer to autumn. Also produces yellow-black, nut-like fruit.
