Description

Clitoria ternatea (Butterfly pea). The name of this species refers to the Indonesian island of Ternate, where this species was first recorded. A trailing or scandent, evergreen annual or biennial climber native to tropical Asia. Elliptic to ovate, bright green leaves are 3-5 ternate and oval in shape. Large flowers are dark blue, centred yellow and appear in summer until autumn. These are followed by flat pods. There is also a double-flowered form.
