Cornus genus (Dogwood). These are deciduous shrubs and trees which are suitable for small gardens. This genus has about 45 species; some are perennials. The leaves are simple, and smooth with prominent veins. The flowers are usually green-yellowish or a dull purplish.

They are fully to half hardy, and will need sun or semi-shade with fertile, well drained soil.
