Description

Crataegus laciniata ‘Sanguinea’ (Oriental thorn). This species is a compact, spreading, sparsely thorny, deciduous tree, with triangular to diamond-shaped dark green leaves. It bears corymbs of up to 12 white flowers in late spring and early summer.

Cultivation

They are fully hardy and will prefer full sun, they are suitable for almost all situations and may be grown in any but very wet soil.

Prone to fireblight, controlled only by prompt removal and burning of affected branches. Also ‘pear and cherry slug’.

Fireblight is sometimes a problem. Honey fungus rust.
