Description

Crataegus laevigata ‘Crimson Cloud’ (Hawthorn). This small tree to 8 m native to Europe and North Africa, bears ovate-triangular, dark green, glossy shallowly lobed leaves and produces few thorns. Its abundant white flowers open in late spring. May be easily confused with the English May (Crataegus monogyna); both have been called C. oxyacantha. ‘Punicea Flore Pleno’ has deep pink double flowers with white centres.
