Description

× Cupressocyparis leylandii ‘Gold Rider’ (Leyland cypress). This is a tall evergreen tree cross between Chamaecyparis nootkatensis and Cupressus macrocarpa. It grows up to 35m high. It can be used for hedging or as a screen because of its rapid growth.

Cultivation

If the conifer produces more than one leader, to maintain the general conical habit remove all but one leader. To restrict the height of the plant, the leader can be cut back.

Propagation

Seed sown in autumn or spring (but forms selected for leaf colour do not come true). Evergreen current growth cuttings in autumn to spring. Deciduous softwood cuttings in summer.

Honey fungus may damage young plants. prone to canker and aphids.
