Description

Cyclamen ‘Mini’ (Sowbread). These are tuberous perennials which are native in the Mediterranean region and southwest Asia, some of which are occasionally evergreen. The round tubers will sit on or just below the soil surface and will bear fleshy, heart-shaped leaves often with light or dark patterns on the upper surface. The flowers have 5 petals, are borne on single stems, are red, pink or white, and may be scented.

Needs

Cultivation

They are fully hardy to frost tender, min 5-7C and will require humus-rich, well drained soil with sun or partial shade. If pot grown, in summer dry off tubers of all except C.purpurascens (which is evergreen and flowers in summer); repot in autumn and water to restart growth.

Propagation

You can propagate by seeds, stem or root cuttings in late summer or autumn.

Pests, diseases or disorders

C.persicum and its cultivars are susceptible to black root rot. Under glass red spider mites and grey mould.
