Description

Cypripedium calceolus (Lady's slipper orchid). Native to Europe, Asia and North America. Has bold, bright green leaves and flowers with deep yellow lips and purple or brown petals and sepals, borne singly or 2 to 3 together on 20-45cm stems from late spring to mid-summer. In the UK it is renowned as the largest and showiest native orchid, but has been collected almost to extinction there. It is one of the most easily cultivated cypripediums. This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe.

Cultivation
