Cyrtanthus genus (Fire lily). This genus consists of about 50 species, which are native to Southern Africa. The leaves are fleshy and somewhat grass-like, and usually die down over the winter. They do well when planted in pots, and will also make long-lasting, perfumed cut flowers. The flowers are scented, brightly coloured blooms which are usually tubular. They are frost hardy to frost tender, min 15C, and require free draining, light soil with full sun. You can propagate by seeds or offsets in the spring.
