Description

Albizia distachya (Plume Albizia). This species is a large shrub or small tree. The leaves are bright green and fern-like; they have oblong-ovate leaflets. The flowers are produced in the spring with tiny yellow-green blooms in axillary spikes like small bottle brushes.

Interest and use

Grown for their feathery foliage and unusual flower heads. Some species are grown for food, livestock fodder, timber, bark for tannin and paper, but also medicine, soap, firewood, glue, shade, reforestation, and fish poison.
