Description

Albizia julibrissin (Persian acacia). This is a broadly spreading deciduous tree, with a low branching habit. The medium green leaves are finely divided. The tendency of the leaves to 'close up' at night and during periods of rain have led it to be called the 'sleeping tree'. The flowers are ball-shaped and pink-white in colour; they occur in the late summer and autumn. This tree has the ability to fix nitrogen into the soil, thereby helping the plants around it.
