Deutzia genus. These are summer-flowering, deciduous shrubs that have ornamental bark. The flowers will bloom in late spring producing pink or white sprays. They have long straight cane-like stems, and the leaves are produced in opposite pairs and are finely toothed.
Grown for their profuse, 5 petalled flowers, flower arranging.
They are fully to frost hardy and will need full sun with fertile, well drained soil. The plants will benefit from a regular thinning out of old shoots after flowering.
You can propagate by softwood cuttings in the summer or by hardwood cuttings in the winter. Seeds in autumn or spring.
