Alchemilla genus (Lady's mantle). There are about 300 species of herbaceous perennials in this genus. The perennials will bear sprays of tiny, greenish-yellow flowers with conspicuous outer calyces, in the summer. The spreading stems will often root as they grow. They will form clumps of palmate or rounded, lobed grey-green leaves that are often covered in fine hairs.

The name Alchemilla comes from the Arabic name for the plant: 'Alkemelyah' which means "little magical one" and probably refers to its medicinal uses, as well as the way it captures the dew in its leaves.
