Description

Dimorphotheca genus (African daisy). There are about 7 species of annuals, perennials and evergreen subshrubs. They are valued for their colourful, daisy-like flowers that will bloom from early summer. The leaves have a wavy-edge and toothed leaves.

Interest and use

Bedding plants also good for borders and window boxes. Suitable for coastal conditions.

Cultivation

They will grow in a sunny position in fertile, very well drained soil. Remember to dead-head the blooms this will prolong the flowering.

Propagation

You can propagate the annuals by seeds which are sown under glass in mid-spring, the perennials by semi-ripe cuttings in the summer.

Is susceptible to botrytis in wet summers.
