Description

Echinocactus genus (Eagles claw). This genus consists of 12 species of perennial cactus, They are slow growing and will eventually reach a height of 2m and a width of 1m, they will feature prominently spined ribs. The flowers are yellow, pink or red daisy-like.

Cultivation

They are frost tender, min 11C; if grown in lower temperatures this will cause yellow patches. They need full sun and very well drained soil.

Propagation

You can propagate by seeds in the spring.

Pests, diseases or disorders

Lower temperatures cause yellow patches on E.grusonii. Vunerable to mealy bugs when young.
