Echinops genus (Globe thistle). This genus has about 120 species of upright perennials, biennials and annuals which are native to southern Europe, and central Asia. The foliage is usually grey-green and thistle-like. The flowers are pom-pom shape and are either blue-grey or white.

Grown for their globe-like, spiky flower heads. Borders. Suitable for coastal conditions.
They are fully hardy and will grow well in full sun in poor soil. Dead head to prevent self seeding.
You can propagate by division or seed in the autumn or by root cuttings in the winter.
Susceptible to aphids.
