Description

Eleocharis dulcis (Water chestnut). This is the species most commonly grown in Asia for its dark brown edible corms, which have a nut-like texture and a sweet taste. The leafless stems are densely tufted, while the flowers occur in tiny, terminal spikes. It grows to a height of 1m. Mature round bulb dark brown in colour, must be cooked well.
