Eschscholzia genus (Californian poppy). These are branched annuals and perennials, they will produce a clear sap. It will bear a single-poppy-like, star-shaped flowers in the spring that will close up in dull weather, in shades of red, orange and yellow with some very pretty hybrids available. The foliage is deeply dissected, blue-green and mottled. It will bears many-seeded fruits.

They are fully hardy, and will require sun and will grow well in poor, very well drained soil. Dead-head regularly to ensure a long flowering period.
