Description

Euphrasia nemorosa (Common eyebright). This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe. STEM: Upright, branched. ROOT: Fibrous, attached to roots of other plants. HAIRS: Short, usually sparse. STIPULES: Absent LEAF-STALK: Absent BRACTS: Leaf-like but smaller. FLOWER STALK: Much shorter than flower. SEPALS: 4, bases form tube, teeth pointed. PETALS: 5, bases form tube, lobes notched, 3 lower longer. STAMENS: 4, inside tube. STIGMA: 1, tip swollen; style long. OVARY: 1, 2-celled. SEEDS: Numerous, grooved, ends narrowed.
