Firmiana genus. There are about 9 species of trees and shrubs, they are mostly deciduous, they are grown for their attractive foliage and to provide shade for other plants. The leaves are entire or palmately lobed, the flowers are small showy and bell-shaped. They are followed by papery, leaf-like fruits. They are half hardy min 2-5C, they will require well drained but moisture-retentive, fertile soil and full light or partial shade. You can water containerized specimens freely when in full growth, and less in the winter. You can propagate by seeds when ripe or in the spring.
