Frailea genus. This genus consists of spherical to columnar cacti, The stems can be globular to shortly cylindrical, and seldom more than 10cm tall. They will bear variously coloured spines, and are sometimes arranged in comb-like rows. They will radiate from the tips along the tops of vertical ribs. The funnel-shaped yellow flowers are quite large for the size of the plants and will bloom in the summer. The seeds can set in small bristly fruits even without the flowers opening. They are frost tender, min 5C, and will need partial shade and very well drained soil. Is not well adapted to long periods of drought. You can propagate by seeds in the spring or summer.
