Description

Gazania rigens (Gazania). This is a spreading mat-forming evergreen perennial or half hardy annual. It will grow about 30cm in height. It will produce dark silver-green foliage and daisy-like flowers which are either yellow, orange, gold, red or cream that have a dark centre.

Cultivation

Grow them in well drained light or sandy soil. They will perform best in full sun.

Propagation

Propagate by division or from cuttings in autumn, or from seed in late winter to early spring. You should cover the seeds when sowing as the darkness aids in the germination. Division may be done successfully in warm climates.
