Gomphrena genus. This genus has about 90 species of prostrate or upright annuals or perennials. They have opposite, usually hairy leaves with papery flowers which form terminal oval or globular heads. They are half hardy and will grow best in a sunny position with fertile, well drained soil. You can propagate by seeds sown under glass in the spring.
