Description

Hakonechloa genus. These are tufted perennial grasses. The basal leaves are bright green and will turn orange-bronze in the autumn in cooler climates. Flowers are bisexual with males and females in the same spikelet. Each flower head comprises spikelets, with one or more florets, that are covered with glumes or scales. There are many attractive variegated forms they tend to be more compact and grow well with a little shade.
