Hedyotis genus (Bluets). This genus consists of low-growing mat-forming, summer-flowering annuals and perennials. There are about 150 species. The flowers are borne in the leaf axis which bloom in tight clusters or loose short sprays. Each flower has a short tube and 4 spreading petals, which are usually white. Fully hardy. Thrives in shady sites on moist, sandy leaf mould. Propagate by division in spring or by seed in autumn.
