Hibiscus genus. This is a large and diverse genus with about 200 species, which includes hot-climate evergreen and deciduous shrubs and small trees; either annuals or perennials. Fully hardy to frost tender, min 5-15C. They need full sun and humus-rich, well drained soil. Water containerized specimens freely when in full growth, moderately at other times. Tip prune young plants to promote bushiness, cut back old plants hard in spring if required.
