Description

Acacia auriculiformis (Northern Black Wattle). This tree has small yellow blooms held in dense spikes.

Origin

Australia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia. The species name comes from the shape of the fruit pods which resemble ears.

Interest and use

Ornamental, shelter, shade, nitrogen fixing, erosion control, fuel, pulp and lumber wood. Also used for tanning and as a dye.
