Hieracium genus (Hawkweed). This genus of about 250 species consists mostly of perennials. They are mainly small and can be weedy. They produce rosettes of basal leaves that may be densely hairy or downy. The flowers are single terminal flowerheads which will bloom in colours of mostly yellow, orange or red. Fully hardy. Does best in sun and in poor, well drained soil. Propagate by seed or division in autumn or spring.
Grown for their foliage.
