Hyacinthus genus (Hyacinth). There are 3 species in this genus of bulbs. The leaves are glossy green and will appear just as the flowering spikes emerge. The leaves are narrow and strap-like while the blooms themselves are crowded onto a short spike. They are frost hardy and will need an open situation or partial shade with well drained soil. You should plant in the autumn.
Grown for their dense spikes of fragrant, tubular flowers; ideal for spring bedding displays and for pot cultivation indoors.
After forcing, keep in a cool place to finish growth, then plant out to recover.
