Gardens in a converted wharf, an old courthouse, a tarmac courtyard, an industrial garage space, a former plague pit ... and some elegant garden squares. An intriguing mix of designed and transformed green spaces.

A beekeeping and environmental education community project. Transforming unused, neglected spaces into gardens with new growing beds, fruit trees, soft fruit, nectar-rich plants, herbs and flowers. Beekeeping, crafts and candle-making. Further details

A pleasure garden imaginatively designed by a group of local residents with backgrounds in film, art, design and horticulture. Refreshments at wonderful Italo Deli. Junction Jazz performing Saturday afternoon. Further details

3. Durand Gardens Sat 10:00–17:00, Sun 10:00–17:00
This D-shaped woodland garden, in a mid-19th-century conservation area, is said to be the site of a plague pit. The gardens are deliberately kept wild as a woodland ecology concentrating on native species. Further details

4. Glengall Wharf Garden Sun 11:00–16:00
A large community garden on an old wharf of the Surrey Canal, showing a wide variety of different sustainable gardening methods, all managed by local people. Homemade refreshments, plants and guided tours. Further details

5. Harleyford Road Community Garden Sun 14:00–17:00
Intimate community garden created and maintained by residents. Divided into several areas including a wildlife area, pond and a playground. Refreshments. Music. Jumble and other stalls 2-5pm. Further details

6. Jamyang Buddhist Centre Sat 10:00–16:00
Originally the exercise yard of the old Kennington Courthouse, restored by volunteers since 1995. Courtyard garden with magnificent golden Buddha statue and mixed planting. Garden café and shop. Further details

7. Kath Gillmore Community Garden Sat 12:00–17:00
Imaginatively designed community garden in a disused tarmac courtyard. Raised beds, enchanting planted courtyard and observation beehive. Refreshments and many activities. Further details

8. Merrick Square Sun 11:00–18:00
Small, quiet, well-maintained garden square of 1853-6, usually open to residents only. Music. Refreshments. Further details

9. Trinity Church Square Sun 11:00–18:00
Formal garden square originally laid out between 1824 and 1832 on land belonging to the Corporation of Trinity House. Contains one of the oldest outside statues in London, probably of Alfred the Great. Music. Refreshments. Further details

Former industrial/garage space now a pleasant, intimate communal urban green space. Sixteen allotment plots, wildlife area and thriving beehives. Further details
