Have you ever wished you grew more wild flowers? Now is your chance. Thanks to a major initiative supported by the Big Lottery Fund and Kew, 120,000 free seed kits are being distributed to help create over one million square metres of wild flowers in spring 2015.
All you need do is register for your community to receive free wild flower seeds native to your country. All types of formal and informal groups, including activity clubs, societies, work places, schools and neighbourhoods are eligible.
Each kit, which also has a growing guide, DIY bee house and site markers, will transform at least 10 square metres. So you can share the packets with people to sow in public spaces, streets, gardens, balconies and window boxes. You may apply for up to 20 seed kits.
At GreenPlantSwap, we think it's a great idea and fully support it. To whet your appetite and brighten up an autumn day, above are a few of the fabulous wild flowers you could be growing.
But you must register now not to be disappointed on https://www.growwilduk.com/register-seed-kit?partnerid=eb6d86b2. It only takes a couple of minutes.
Kits will be assigned on a first come, first served basis and distributed in March 2015 ready for sowing.
