To buy, sell and swap plants and use our full service, please log in or sign up - it's completely free.

Why is this group not more popular? Hardly anyone in my area sharing it at all. We all need to spread the word on Facebook if allowed? Cannot believe I stumbled on this by pure accident, but want to sell/swap give away seeds etc. I am in Torbay /South Hams area.

Hi Lily. It's a young service. We launched last year with just 15 members in one area. We now have several thousand across the UK and it grows daily. But it will take time to build strength in depth in every local area.

Best way to help is is to spread the word on Facebook and Twitter and message people with Grower pages near you.

We will also soon be adding a feature where any post you make in Talk Gardening sends an alert to members near you (whether they have a Grower page or not).

I'll let you know when that is in place.

Yes of course - the more who join and use the service, the better it becomes for everyone.

Hi Lilly, even though you might not have neighbours or friends to swap plants with, you can still swap with us all, by sending plants by post or courier. I have done that several times and with a bit of care in terms of packing it is perfectly fine. Best time to swap is when it’s best for the plants so for most of them it will be early spring. Have a look at the post I wrote in June and see if you get some ideas

My garden is tiny but I have a lot of plants - and I can take cuttings and divisions and swap nearly all of them. I haven’t had time to complete my plant list so there are still a few more plants to go in, I hope to finish that soon, if only there were a few more hours in the day!
I suggest you have a look at my plant list and make a wish-list for me and I will see what I can do. If you send me a list of what you have so far I will make a wish-list back to you and we can make a swap when the time is right, February/March or so. If you in the meantime have completed your plant list it will be easier for me of course, but I appreciate it does take a lot of time :-)
    Take care, Helene.

Hi Lily, thought you'd like to know that a communal garden 10 miles from you in Teignmouth has just joined and created a Grower page Grosvenor Green Gardens.

They are looking for local swaps.
