Please can you donate some plants?

Hi everybody in the Manchester and Greater Manchester Area,

We are a group of volunteers who are looking for plant donations for a memorial garden for 5 yr old Luca Giovannini.

The memorial garden will be at his school in Timperley.

With us volunteering our time for this project, the budget is very limited. We are looking for plants that are child friendly (e.g. no roses) and that will bring colour all year round. For example, dahlia, hardy geraniums, fuchsias, lavender, hellebores, snowdrops, ivy, Lungwort, any other perennials and evergreens.

The garden will be used by his classmates and future pupils of the school as a place to reflect and learn about plants and wildlife.

A little bit about Luca:
Five-year-old Luca Giovannini died within two days of an infection causing swelling to his brain. His parents agreed to donate the organs of their beloved son. The lives of two tots and two adults were transformed or saved by them receiving his organs.

I have lots of pulmonaria (lungwort) and there could be purple toadflax which is very good for bees. How do I donate. I live in Chorlton.

    Hi Helen and Alya,

Apologies for the late reply. I met up with the volunteering group yesterday and unfortunately, London is too far for us to get to. Your offers were appreciated though.

    Thanks,

    Nadine

    Hi Nadine,

I would gladly like to donate some plants, and have a nice selection of Fuchsias that I will gladly donate. Please private message me, and I'll arrange for some plugs to be posted to you so that you can get the children involved in potting them on, then planting them out. I am guessing you would prefer Hardy plants which is no problem at all, just let me know what you'd like and I'll arrange for them to be posted onto you.

    Ian
