Do you visit local NGS or open gardens?

I try and attend these, they are great to get inspiration, meet new people and also you can pick up some bargain plants whilst also enjoying some tea and cake or even wine!!

Why not take a look at www.ngs.org to see when your next local open garden is?

Enjoy!

We couldn't agree more Darren. There are so many spectacular private gardens and you can find some fabulous plants.

We are surprised more of the NGS garden owners have not so far used this site. It's a simple, free way to attract more local gardeners with:

    • a Grower page (you can put the details of the opening on the page ahead of the event, then take it off afterwards)

    • a Post in this forum the week of the event, which local members get an alert about.

We guess it takes a while for people to cotton on, and many older garden owners are not the most web savvy.

Here are three GPS members in Devon with fabulous gardens who have created Grower pages. They add details of their garden openings to their pages when they happen.

I totally agree! I am sharing your site in my different groups and am pleased to see some people are joining however getting them to list their plants and encourages others is a little slower. Fingers crossed eh?

We usually visit a few every year, and we especially like the groups of gardens. I've found NGS gardeners seem to be non-internet users and don't even seem able to answer emails!

Hahah there are really still people out there that don't use the net?!!! Hahah. I do like visiting them and am looking forward to visiting two this weekend.

I enjoy the group gardens too! There are Didsbury open gardens and also Levenshulme Open Gardens around near me, so I am pretty spoilt.

Hoping to get to my first ngs this weekend. Another one planned for July, which is an exotic garden I don't want to miss.

Thanks, will do. It's not exactly near for me, about an hour and half. But seen pics of it and it seems worth the trip.

Wow. Sounds like you've been busy! I'm off to Sue Proctor Plants this Sunday they have an open day on Saturday and Sunday.

Yes I've got to stop spending. Just starting off with the garden though, so lots of space to fill. Never heard of Sue proctor before, just had a Google, like the look of some of the more unusual hostas, like corkscrew.

Yeah it is a fun one. I am not sure I'll be purchasing :)
