Problems establishing winter Aconites

I have been trying to naturalise a clump of winter Aconites in the grass under my Cherry tree, but although they flowered (poorly) in the first year they now seem to have disappeared completely and did not come up this spring at all. I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what. Any ideas?

    Good Earth Gardens

The only thing I can think of is to check the soil is well drained enough, perhaps add some grit when planting, and that the position gets some light. Or they are being eaten by mice or squirrels, in which case, you could cover the bulbs with a piece of chicek wire after the leaves die down. Apparently they are best planted with the leaves intact 'in the green'. Hope that helps! G.
