Our very big Bay tree

  • Our very big Bay tree

Thought I'd share this because it is just so big! This means that many of our neighbours come to us when they need bay leaves for cooking. We then discuss what they are going to cook, usually over a glass of wine.

    Oh my word!!
Well, when I asked for a cutting, I had no idea you could make thousands of cuttings and still hardly notice it! I also intend to shape it into a ball, but only a small one that can live in a container, not….. a giant boulder!! What do you use every time you prune it to shape? A cherry picker?
Amazing, thanks for showing us this photo :-)

We actually bought a scaffolding tower to do lots of our tree work/bush shaping, otherwise we'd be stuck or hanging precariously off wobbly ladders. I'll get the cuttings underway.

Not sure how old it is. We only moved here in 2009. The family that lived here before us were here for 40 odd years and were very keen gardeners. We even have a couple of Plane Trees said to be from Buckingham Palace!
