You are cordially invited to an Open Garden Day in the small, pretty village of East Hanney, which is located off the A338 between Grove and Frilford.
Free parking available at the Village Hall, and the short walk from the village car park to the two gardens gives you the chance to admire some of the front gardens en route: and to look at the water rushing under the Mill, or (if you go the other way) proceeding more calmly, as part of the Letcombe Brook.
Two gardens are open: Jasmine Cottage and The Mulberries. These are both private gardens, rarely open to the public, and are well worth visiting.
Jasmine Cottage is a plantsman's garden, stuffed with lovely and unusual plants: it has been lovingly established over the last 20 years or more, with herbaceous borders, fruit and other trees, vegetables and a gravel garden.
The Mulberries has wildflower lawns, many interesting statues, an enormous Mulberry tree - as you would expect - and a wild meadow which used to be a tennis court, and which now contains award-winning compost bins and some spectacular allowed-to-run-riot rambling roses. See if you can find the hidden leaf mould pens!
Entry is £5, there will be plants and other items for sale, and all proceeds are going to the The Brain Tumour Charity (reg no 1150054)
