Mystery Fuchsia

  • Mystery Fuchsia

Anyone recognise this Fuchsia? It's a bit like 'Thalia' but larger chunkier blooms. Also appears to be quite hardy.

Looks very like my plant of Fuschia speciosa and seems to have the same broad, non shiny foliage. Mine came from Duchy Nursery in Cornwall and is said not to be very hardy. Mine does well in a pot with just cold greenhouse treatment for winter.

    Thanks Brian,

The good news is I had another fuschia which I lost the label for and that definitely is F. speciosa. This one is something different although similar. The flowers are twice the length of speciosa. It really is a very odd but lovely thing. Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Robert,
Sorry not to be of more help. I also grow two other somewhat similar fuschias. One I've lost the original label for but now have two plants of, one now labelled F. reticulata, the other F. denticulata! I think probably reticulata is correct. The other is F. 'Panche' a rather beautiful hybrid with bunches of small flowers. Both of these though have quite different narrower foliage and the flowers are smaller.
