Misbehaving Lily

Hello, I've got the white variety of Crinum x powellii growing in the border of my garden. Has been there since we moved in in 2008 and since then has probably only flowered twice. I threatened it at the beginning of the year, that if it did nothing this year I'd dig it up and it would be but in a pot.

Came back off holiday and guess what?! Yes, it's flowered. One stem with about 8 flowers on it.
Any ideas why it's took so long to flower and when would be best to move it?

Hi Dee, I'll be interested to hear if we have any Crinum experts here, as I have the same experience: a couple of my Clients have Crinum in their gardens, and some years they flower, and some years they don't. It would nice to know what they need, in order that I could take more credit in the years when they do flower!

I suspect that it's more to do with the weather, which we can't control: they need a lot of sun, and frankly, we haven't had much of that this year!
