Thomas Messenger greenhouses

Hi all I have recently moved into a house in Shropshire and have discovered 3 Thomas Messenger greenhouses! One is usable the other 2 will need a lot of tlc however the structures are sound and the doors have all been stored. Any advice on renovating them !

Hi Peter - Lucky you! Did you see this post a while back about discovering a Messenger greenhouse? Alitex may be the best people to talk to about restoration, as they have based a number of their designs on Messenger originals and, I understand, use 'wood effect' painted aluminium in place of the original wood frames.

Thanks Jeremy all the wood is sound it's the supporting brickwork that's disintegrating. I will post some photos later today .

Fantastic! I'm green with envy - have seen some Alitex reproduction greenhouses and they're superb, but the original Messenger designs are on another level of beauty in my view. I'd hope you can get the brickwork repointed / repaired by a builder without getting Alitex involved though, for the sake of your wallet!
