Should I remove Marmalade tomato shoots?

I am growing this Marmalade Tomato. Do they need the shoots between the branches removing as with taller tomato plants?

    Hi Janet,

I've never grown these myself, but they are a "bush" tomato, also known as a "determinate" tomato (as opposed to a "vine" or "indeterminate" tomato, the sort that needs to be tied in to wires or frames, and which grows rampantly) and generally the advice is that determinate tomatoes don't need the side shoots pinched out.

If in doubt, and assuming you have more than one plant of it, let one grow unchecked, pinch out the other one, and make notes on how they compare!

They are all about 15'' tall now (10 plants here) and I have pinched them out BUT now I shall leave some un-pinched and see the results! They came from seed from my son-in-law in France, possibly from Italy originally and he just let them grow into supported plants about 3'6'' to 4' high laden with the fruit - being a builder and busy I doubt if he pinched them out - I've asked him but he doesn't understand 'pinching out!' Thank you Rachel

You're welcome, Janet: and don't forget to take photos to remind you of what you did: if they grow well and/or are delicious, you can save some of the seed and grow more next year.
