One of the oldest urban nature reserves to one of the newest on a rooftop, by way of community gardens, prize-winning gardens, celebrated tunnel gardens, and gardens on barges and rubbish dumps! All in one small area of London.

1. Brunel Museum Gardens Sat 10:00–22:30, Sun 10:00–17:00
A celebration of Brunel and his family where the revolutionary tunnel opened in 1843. Explore the Grand Entrance Hall, the potager roof garden, trees and shrubs chosen by Brunel. Further details

2. Cable Street Community Gardens Sun 10:30–16:00
A well-established community garden situated in the heart of an historic inner-city area. Light refreshments with homemade produce, craft stalls, children's activities, music. Further details

3. Crossrail Place Roof Garden Sat 10:00–18:00, Sun 12:00–18:00
An exotic roof garden, filled with ferns, tall grasses and flowering shrubs, hidden amongst the towering buildings of Canary Wharf. Unique architecture and stunning landscape design inspired by Canary Wharf’s rich maritime heritage. Further details

4. Garden Barge Square at Downings Roads Moorings Sat 14:00–17:00, Sun 14:00–17:00
The decks of many of the barges moored here have been laid out with gardens to form an 'inside-out' floating garden square. Tea and cakes. Further details

5. Lavender Pond and Nature Park Sat 10:00–16:00
One of the oldest urban nature reserves in the country. Main features are ponds, extensive stands of reed, a colourful marsh area and woodland. The original dock walls and locks remain alongside the old pumphouse. Further details

6. The Compound, Stave Hill Ecological Park Sat 10:00–16:00. Sun 10:00–16:00
An imaginative and creative space with a wildlife ‘city’, allotment, and woodland walk. Also the base for practical work carried out in the surrounding woodlands and meadows. Children's craft activities. Beekeeper. Further details

7. Winterton House Organic Garden Sun 10:00–17:00
Prize-winning garden created by residents out of a rubbish dump, with a pergola, gravel planting, climbers and roses, mixed herbaceous border and pond. Rare-breed chickens, ducks and a small allotment. Plant sale, refreshments, homemade cakes. Further details

8. Woollen House Communal Garden Sun 11:00–17:00
A garden filled with flowering plants, old-fashioned roses, ferns and arum lilies and with fresh fruit, herbs, and vegetable enjoyed by all the residents. Tea, coffee and cake. Further details
